English Tuition
GCSE English Language
At Infinity Education, our aim is to support you child as a learner of English Language, to develop their confidence, understanding and resilience in this key subject.
Our GCSE English programme focuses specifically upon the key skills and assessment objectives assessed on all sections of both papers. These are:
- Identifying and interpreting implicit and explicit information and ideas
- Selecting and synthesising evidence from a variety of texts
- Exploring how writers use language and structural devices for effect
- Comparing ideas and perspectives
- Evaluating texts critically
- Communicating clearly and effectively
- Using vocabulary, sentence structures and punctuation for effect.
As with maths, parents/carers will receive an email with tasks prior to the lesson to be printed off for use during the tutorial session. Our aim is to fully prepare students with key reading and writing skills as well as developing their confidence in Language.
We will regularly assess your child using past exam papers to identify gaps in their knowledge and use this information to further help to develop understanding.
We offer online tutoring for the following examination boards:
AQA, Edexcel and OCR
We also offer tuition for iGCSE English Language.

GCSE English Literature
At Infinity Education, our aim is to support you child as a learner of English Literature, to develop their confidence, understanding and resilience in this key subject.
Our GCSE Literature programme focuses specifically upon the key skills and assessment objectives assessed on all sections and texts of both papers, regardless of the texts chosen by your child’s school. These are:
- Reading, understanding and responding to texts using textual references to support and illustrate interpretations
- Analyse the language, form and structure of a text using accurate subject terminology when doing so
- Demonstrating understanding of the relationships between texts and the context in which they were written
- Use a range of vocabulary and sentence structures for clarity purpose and effect.

A-Level English Language
At Infinity Education, we have a highly experienced, specialist team of A level English Language teachers. Building on your child’s prior skills, we will encourage our tutees to develop their interest in and enjoyment of literature and literary studies as they:
- develop and apply their understanding of the concepts and methods appropriate for the analysis and study of language
- explore data and examples of language in use
- engage creatively and critically with a varied programme for the study of English
- develop their skills as producers and interpreters of language.
In addition, we will encourage our tutees to develop their interest in and enjoyment of English as they independently investigate language in use.
Our sessions will focus on the following Assessment Objectives which are the same across all specifications and exam boards:
- AO1: Apply appropriate methods of language analysis, using associated terminology and coherent written expression.
- AO2: Demonstrate critical understanding of concepts and issues relevant to language use.
- AO3: Analyse and evaluate how contextual factors and language features are associated with the construction of meaning.
- AO4: Explore connections across texts, informed by linguistic concepts and methods.
- AO5: Demonstrate expertise and creativity in the use of English to communicate in different ways.

A Level English Literature
At Infinity Education, we have a highly experienced, specialist team of A level English Literature teachers. Building on your child’s prior skills, we will encourage our tutees to develop their interest in and enjoyment of literature and literary studies as they:
- read widely and independently both set texts and others that they have selected for themselves
- engage critically and creatively with a substantial body of texts and ways of responding to them
- develop and effectively apply their knowledge of literary analysis and evaluation
- explore the contexts of the texts they are reading and others’ interpretations of them.
Our sessions will focus on the following Assessment Objectives which are the same across all specifications and exam boards:
- AO1: Articulate informed, personal and creative responses to literary texts, using associated concepts and terminology, and coherent, accurate written expression.
- AO2: Analyse ways in which meanings are shaped in literary texts.
- AO3: Demonstrate understanding of the significance and influence of the contexts in which literary texts are written and received.
- AO4: Explore connections across literary texts.
- AO5: Explore literary texts informed by different interpretations.
